3 ways to prepare your dog for cosy season

The 'ber months have arrived! The leaves are browning, cosy nights are coming and jumpers are already out of the wardrobe (for pup and person).

Adapting to the cold season can be tough. Here are 3 quick ways we ensure we’re prepped in our house.

1. Prep the shampoo

’Tis the season for muddy paws and wet walks. Bath time is back on the menu and it’s a great time to check you’ve got everything you need to have your pup smelling and feeling fresh. Stock up on our Sniff shampoo, made of soothing aloe and oatmeal, and our frankincense with cedarwood Chase eau de parfum so you’re ready to tackle that musty wet dog smell head on whilst still being kind to delicate doggo skin.

2. Check candles and home scents

If you’re anything like me, nothing feels better than popping on a lush candle or wax melt to warm your autumnal cockles. One quick note of caution: some essential oils can be toxic or irritating for our beloved pups. Swap cinnamon, citrus and forest blends (I know!) for cedarwood, frankincense and cardamom - you still get the beautiful autumnal scents without harming your pup.

3. Walks don't have to be daily

While daily walks are often part of the routine, they’re not always essential. On rainy days or when you’re deep in the throws of blanket season, it’s okay to switch things up. Make sure your dog has a good snuffle toy to get their nose working and tire them out instead. Our baguette and cassette toys are perfect for rainy day play. Just 20 minutes of snuffling equates to a 1 hour walk, so you know they’ll still be getting some form of enrichment.

For many, autumn is the best time of the year: the post-summer snuggle in a bundle of blankets, surrounded by flickering candles and a good, hot cuppa. With our 3 tips, you and your pup can gently ease into sweater weather season.
